This is possible.
to let go
is possible.
to have a different relationship to the place you live
lands you inhabit
this is possible.
deciding collectively
to end private property
create collective commons
shared spaces to gather, grow, generate
together
this is possible.
breathing life into communal care
for one another
for all living beings
to see.know.sense.
ecological entanglement
cultivating wonder
life and affirming care
this is possible.
in fact
in many places and bodies
this kind of breath and this kind of living
has never stopped.
racialized capitalism can surrender
wave the white flag
the “united” states can be reimagined
the entire business of private and property can end
this is possible.
then all would call her by her name:
Turtle Island.
take a breath
pause
let any thoughts
settle
slow body
slow mind
start small, start locally
start in your body
then expand.
if fear or confusion arises, frustration or doubt or cynicism
or a million questions about details and challenges and barriers
try to hop into the driver’s seat
acknowledge them with love, appreciation, compassion
witness these emotions with the patience and kindness of a gentle grandparent.
this poem is not a practice in figuring out the details
the details have been colonized
this is not the moment to make a business plan
or spreadsheet
or to-do list.
wait
breathe
reconnect
organic plans will arise
truths will emerge
this moment
an experiment
opening space and time and possibility
an occasion of wonder and enchantment
notice what arises
when the body rests inside possibility.
these are right sized steps towards
this moment.
this is possible.1
